Merry Christmas!

Tuesday, December 29, 2009

Christmas 2009 was by far the best Christmas I have ever had! Not only did we have a White Christmas, but it was also Dylan’s First Christmas, and this year I think Diego kind of understood more of what was going on compared to last year. Diego loved his train table, but I do not have any pictures of the train table yet, well because he took the whole track apart and stored it away . We only stayed up til 2am Christmas Eve putting the table together, and precisely setting up the track and all the little pieces, and it took him maybe 5 minutes to take it apart.

First a little stroll down memory lane:

The unwrapping started off pretty slow, Diego was tearing little quarter size pieces off at a time. I had to give him a few pointers. Once he got the hang of it, he refused to unwrap anymore because he wanted to play with all the toys he unwrapped. It was a very LONG morning.

Dylan didn’t quiet get the whole unwrap the presents thing. He preferred to chew on the paper. Thank goodness he has a Big Brother like Diego, that just opened all his gifts for him. He did love all his new toys and especially loved all of Diego’s toys.

The tools and hat were his second favorite gift. He immediately wanted to help fix things and put together his toys. No more stealing tools from Daddy.

We are truly blessed beyond belief. I couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas, family, and friends. I hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to an even better 2010!

Off to The North Pole Express

A few weeks ago we went to Christmas on Main in Downtown Grapevine.  Downtown Grapevine is the neatest little place with the with all the shops, lights, Christmas decorations, and of course The North Pole Express. We decided to ride The North Pole Express since we were in the area, and I knew Diego would love it. Since this was a spur of the moment trip, the boys did not have their pajamas on, well actually not many kids did. Diego had a blast! He was so excited to ride the train, even more so than the time we rode the Miniature Trains. He spent most of his time with his head out the window, and I spent most of the time holding on to his legs, shoes, or arms, so he wouldn't fall out. On the train we sang Christmas songs and we had a surprise visit from Santa too! Despite my lighting issues, I did manage to capture some great moments.

This is when Santa was making his way down the aisle. Diego was so in awe, it was just ADORABLE. I really thought he would freak out like he did last year, but he was so cool about it.

This is really a blurry pic, but I thought it was the sweetest one of all. I was shocked at Diego's excitement with Santa. He was on top of the world after he touched Santa's hand.

Say What?

Monday, December 21, 2009

Diego is a talker. He loves to talk, and talk, and talk. I don't even know where he comes up with half the stuff he says, some days he just has the most random new phrases or words. It really is cute, and sometimes funny, so I wanted to share some of the things he has said recently.

A phone call to Diego

Me: Hey baby what are you doing.

Diego: Hi, Mama. I playing with Dada. Whatu doing today?

Me: I'm at school today.

Diego: Oh yeah, I 'got(forgot).

Where the heck did he learn I forgot?

On a the way to school, Diego is just rambling:

Me: Diego, I don't know what you are talking about.

Diego: Nooo, I dont know whatU talking bout Mama.

Me: What?

Diego: I dont know whatU talking bout Mama.

I just laughed, I didn't know what to say.

Picking him up from school:

Me: Lets go wash your hands before we pick up Dylan.

Diego: I dont wan wash my hands no more.

Me: Why not?

Diego: I tired of washing my hands all the time.

I'am a bit of a germaphobe.

In the car holding his Christmas book:

Diego: I LOVE books, Mama.

Me; You, do?

Diego: Yeah, I LOVE books, I LOVE trains too, and candy!

Dropping him off at Aunt Amy's:

Diego: Amy house! I love you much Mama, I love you much. See you later!

Me: Diego, at least let me park first before you say bye.

Diego: Oh yeah Mama, I 'got.

Getting dressed in the morning:

Me: Come on Diego, lets put on your jacket.

Diego: No, thankss Mama.

At least he has manners.

Other random times when I ask him to do something:

Diego: No thankss.

Me: Why Diego?

Diego: Jus' cause.

Definitely don't know where he learned that.

 I LOVE this kid!

Tis the Season

For Christmas Parties! Daddy and I love sending little goodies to Diego's class parties. We always sign up for cookies or cupcakes, and goodie bags. Jesus is always the baker,  and my coworkers are always amazed that he bakes, but he will do anything for Diego, including making cupcakes. We are no Cake Boss, but we definitely do try and I'm sure one day Diego and Dylan will appreciate our efforts. Personally I prefer A LOT more frosting, but Jesus and Diego like the cupcake with as little or no frosting as possible.

"Yummee Cucakess" in Diego speak

My goodie bags

I even decided to give all the kids in Diego's class a little gift from Diego, so I hit the dollar section of Target and scored these cute Christmas books.

I also found these cute miniature plant kits in the dollar section, that I gave to the teachers that care for my boys. I got the idea from some random search I did on the internet, and luckily I found these for a buck each. I attached a tag to each that states "Thanks for helping me grow" and included a goodie bag for each teacher. Despite the fact that this was a last minute idea, and I didn't have any cute tags or Christmas paper for the tags, actually I just cut these out of a file folder, I think they came out pretty nice.

I really can't wait for Valentines Day, I found some adorable ideas for treats that I can't wait to try out.

Christmas with Friends

Last Friday, our playgroup got together for a little Christmas party, mommy time, and a gift exchange for the kids. We had a very budget friendly $5 limit- because it's not how much you spend right it's the thought that counts. The kids were so excited, even the babies were having a blast. We are so lucky that all of our kids are not only around the same age range, but all get along. In case you were wondering, our playgroup consists of my highschool friends, but now we are all grown up and wonderful moms. We decided a while back we really needed to keep in touch besides just baby showers and birthday parties, and emails. So our girl time playgroup is just like back in the day when we were crazy gossiping teenage girls. Some of us have know each other all of our lives, some met in elementary school, and some in middle school or highschool.
We have experienced Sweet 15, graduations, first babies, weddings, second babies, and everything else in between. So we are really truly blessed that our kids can grow up together. To my wonderful friends, thanks for being there, and I love you guys!

Take 1

Monday, December 14, 2009

Sunday we headed to Trophy Club where I saw these huge ornmanents, to ATTEMPT  to take some pics of the boys for our Christmas cards. The weather was so nice out, the boys were in a good mood, and I was determined to get some good pictures. I did get some nice pics, just not Christmas card worthy. Oh, well better luck next time.

Finally Diego just didn't want to pose for pictures anymore, so I just followed him as he ran around the gardens and the fountains.

We also headed down to downtown Grapevine and rode The Northpole Express, I will post pics from that soon.
