Sweet Baby

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

It seems like everyone I know is having baby lately, which is a good thing for me. My friends have kind enought to allow me to not only practice my skills but document these beautiful moments. My friend just had her sweet Baby Vella, the only girl in a family with 3 boys. I love these pics with Mommy and Baby, because these were completely candid. You see Vella was not a cooperative little girl, and was awake most of the time, so most of these Mommy is just trying to soothe and love on Baby. I really didn't realize what I had until I uploaded them. I realize that THIS is the type of photography I want to do, no poses (as much as possible) just REAL moments.

Actually I would like to have those beautiful posed pictures of BABIES all tucked into little balls, sleeping, and oh so cute. My two newborn sessions so far I have not had that type of baby, maybe its a little girl thing.

Good news is I have another newborn session in a week, of a precious baby boy. I will keep my fingers crossed that he will be a trooper and allow me to capture some amazing pics.

I Heart Faces Dream Big Workshop

Earlier in the month I had the opportunity to attend the I Heart Faces photography workshop. It was a day of learning of everything about your camera and shooting in Manual Mode, backlight, ISO, SS, Aperture, etc. I myself have been shooting in Manual Mode for quite some time now, but it was nice to get a more hands on approach from professional photographers. After the informational portion of the workshop we headed outside to practice what we learned. We had the most adorable models, and of course the help of professional photographers and contributors of I Heart Faces: Dana Suggs, Rachel Durik, Angie Arthur, Jessica Paige, Amy Locurto and last but not least Michelle.

I took many shots, but these are probably my favorites.

She makes me want to have a daughter, well not really, but she is a beautiful little girl.

My attempts at backlight/harsh light.

Halloween With Friends

Monday, November 29, 2010

This year, our little playgroup decided to have a little get Halloween Party for the kids. Our little playgroup rapidly grew into 20 something kids and Mom's. Talk about LOUD! Diego and Dylan enjoy being around other kids, so they were all kinds of rowdy that night. The kids played games like Limbo using a witches broom. My friends husband is DJ, so the kids had a light show along with the music to dance the night away. Sadly, I was feeling a little under the weather, so after a few hours It was time for us to head home.

Pumpkin Patch Express

Back in October we made our way down to the Pumpkin Patch Express in Argyle. I still prefer Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch, but the train is a big hit with our boys. Last year, Dylan was only 7 months old, so he pretty much stayed in our arms or the stroller. This year, he was out to show the world what Dylan is made of. He ran around the whole time, without any care of the world. Diego has always loved any pumpkin patch. Pumpin Patch Express has bounce houses and slides that he spends most of his time in.

State Fair- Better Late Than Never

I have been such a slacker the last few months with the blog, so this post is really late. We went to the State Fair in October, for the first time as a family. The last time we ventured out to the fair was maybe 5 years ago, way before Diego and Dylan were even in the equation. We had such a good time, I wish we would had gone earlier in the day. My pictures are absolutely grainy and out of focus, so I'm using the best of the bunch.

Diego was EXCITED! He was in awe, wide eyed the whole night. I was worried about him crying on the rides, but he did a good job. Daddy rode with him the first time, after that he didn't want Daddy to come along. He did not want to leave, and still asks every day if we can go to the carnival.

I love this pic. Daddy is 6 ft 3 in tall, so he did not fit very well in the tiny childrens rides.

First off, let me fill you in on a little something about Mr. Dylan. As much as a rebel he is, he is not good with rides. We were on the Merry Go Round at the Mall one day, and he had a fit. He cried the whole time, and clung to me like it was the end of the world. So yeah, this was the only ride Dylan rode on at the fair.

Oh Halloween

I LOVE Halloween! By far my favorite holiday. When Diego was 3 months old, his First Hallooween, I saw the cutest little brother and sister duo dressed as a pilot and a flight attendant. Ever since then, I was all about having a theme. Last year, I waited to the last minute so we couldn't find anything. This year, was my year. So I thought. Diego decided he wanted to be Batman, and Dylan could be Robin. He is on this Batman kick right now, so I went with it. Then a week later he decides he wants to be Buzz Light Year and Dylan could be Woody. Then the next week he switches back to Batman and Robin. Seriously this kid is so complicated. One day Diego saw a Super Man costume, and that was it, that was his costume. He did not change his mind after that. To make a long story short, Dylan ended up being a pirate, which I bought the night before Halloween. I was such a slacker, I even forgot to buy new Halloween buckets, so they used last years.

We headed out on Halloween night with my sisters and their kids, like we have always do, even way before I had kids. It's just our little tradition. I'am so blessed to have my sisters and brothers, minus one sister that is in Tulsa, we all live within a mile radius of each other.

As true Dylan fashion, he decided he wanted to ride in the wagon and eat his candy, after the first five homes we visited.

Diego of course loved every minute of it. He once again refused to hold my hand and wanted to walk around like a big boy with his cousins. He had so much fun running around from house to house.

Maybe next year, I will finally buy those KISS costumes for my boys, that I have been wanting for the last two years.
