Hello 2014

Sunday, January 26, 2014

Hello All! It’s been a long while since I have updated the blog. That is my one goal this year is to update my blog more. The older the boys get and the busier we are with nightly homework and reading, the harder it is to take a break and upload images. I promise I will try my best to stay on top of it in 2014. This year I decided to take my photography journey back to where I started, which is documenting our little life. So, I will be doing a project 52 with My Four Hens, one picture a week for an entire year. Here are my first few weeks, minus one that I accidentally didn’t save or accidentally deleted.

Dylan is Three!

Friday, August 24, 2012

Dear Dylan,

I seriously can't even begin to explain how much I love you! Three years ago you unexpectedly made your grand appearance, you were ready for the world. You have been such a little blessing to our family. These last three years you have been joyous and eventful! You have come a long way from that little 6 pound preemie baby we brought home. I love you, more than words can say.

You are becoming more independent every day. You like to be able to walk on your own without holding my hand or sit in the stroller. You want to buckle your own seat belt and take off  your own shoes. You are finally potty trained! Every passing day I see you becoming my big boy.

You are probably the smartest little dude I know. You have known your alphabet and numbers from an early age. You love to learn, read, explore and use your imagination. You are inquisitive and talkative.

Big Brother Diego is your best friend. You look up to him and want to do everything he does. You definitely miss him when he is not home. I love the relationship you guys have.

You finally got your first haircut! It only took us 3 years to do it! You definitely hate having your hair brushed, but you love your hair.

You can be quite a handful. You have your own mind, and you definitely let us know that. You tend to be serious, but the silliness in you always sneaks out. You are the adventurous boy, sometimes even the rebellious one.  You also are a little dramatic and can throw quite a tantrum.

You are the sweetest, cutest, cuddliest little love. You love your Mommy and Daddy. You love to snuggle with us and sleep in our bed.

You love to watch Scooby Doo, Dora and Diego, Adventure Time, Thomas the Train and lots more.

Your favorite toys are your play kitchen, Nintendo DS, Scooby Doo figurines, trains, Batman toys, Super Mario brothers plush dolls, cars, trains.
You pretty much love all your toys.

I'm definitely looking forward to all the new changes, new things you will learn, and watching you turn into a big boy this next year.

I  love you little man, to the moon and back!

I'm a Ninja, I'm a Ninja

Monday, November 28, 2011

I took these photos of Diego back in late September, I just have  not gotten around to posting them. I like to say Diego is my faithful model, but really he requires a little convincing sometimes. Other times he WANTS to have his picture taken and suggests poses that he wants to do. This particular evening I wanted to take some photos at golden hour, so I convinced Diego to get dressed, brush his unruly hair(we are trying to grow his hair out) and show me his "moves" as he says. We headed outside to the alley behind our house where the homes and trees behind blocked the sun. He loved being able to act like a ninja, dinosaur hunter, power ranger, and a super hero- a combination of everything he loves, and was happy to oblige his picture crazy Momma. After he took his mandatory photos, I sat on the ground and just let him play whatever he was playing and capture my little boy, just being a boy. I love his crazy imagination.

My Four Year Old

Friday, August 26, 2011

Dear Diego,

Four!! Can you believe it? These last four years have been the best years of my life. You have brought us such joy and peace. You are such a independent, loving, kind, silly, intelligent boy. I enjoy seeing the world through your little eyes. You have taught Mommy and Daddy to slow down and relax and enjoy the ride. We are very proud of the little man you are becoming. You are still as sweet as ever. You love to cuddle, kiss, and twirl my hair in your little fingers. You have the cutest little dimples and chubby little cheeks.

You are such a smart boy! You know a little about everything. I' am often surprised with the things you say. You love to learn, explore and read. You also have an awesome memory. You can recall trips and random things we did a few years ago and even things you heard in passing. You are definitely detail oriented and inquisitive. You also tend to talk my ear off or anyone that would give you the time. Your vocabulary is extensive for a four year old boy. You often catch people off guard with your conversations and knowledge.

You are the best big brother I could hope for. Mostly you love bossing your little brother around and sometimes claiming his toys as yours. The love you have for him is undeniable. At night you make sure you find his "teddy" so that he can sleep. You teach him how to fix things or do certain things, like jumping off the couch. You defend, protect, and guide him with such care and love. I LOVE to watch you boys run around the house playing hide and seek or building forts out of blankets and pillows. I know you will always be best of friends.

 .

You love to model for Mommy and have your picture taken! It took a while for you to get to this point but it was well worth the wait. Now you come to me and ask me to take a picture of you playing with your toys. You even have some good poses down. Not only do you like to model, but you love to be behind the camera and take pictures as well

Your also quite the comedian! You love to tell jokes and most of the time they don't make any sense. You are also very witty. Sometimes I feel like I'am talking to a teenager with the things you come up with.

Your not the greatest eater. You are quite the picky eater and you will refuse to try anything new. I can't even bribe you to eat new things. You are perfectly content with your staples of fruit, pasta, pizza and chicken.

You have a very active imagination. You pretend to have picnics and campouts in the living room. You jump from couch to couch pretending to be  Batman and Robin. You like to build imaginary things with your tools, or solve a mystery like Scooby Doo.

Every day you are becoming more independent. I hate to let you go, but I love to watch you be the big boy you want to be.

I love you Diego. To the Moon and back!

Love,
Mommy
