Grapevine Sealife Aquarium

Sunday, October 9, 2011

Last weekend we visited the new aquarium in  Grapevine Mills Mall. Diego had been asking for days to go to the aquarium and see the sharks. We were pretty pumped about going. First let me give my honest opinion about the aquarium. It is quite small. For the price and all the buzz I was expecting something bigger. The exhibits were nice and the boys loved it, but I was some what disappointed.  I realize, this is not Sea World or anything like Texas State Aquarium ( which I love), but for my boys it was perfect.

I did like that they interactive activities throughout the aquarium. Diego was even brave enough to stick his hand in the tank and touch the starfish

This was my favorite part. The 360 degree underwater tunnel. For some reason my boys were scared to walk through. It was not the fish swimming over their heads, but the floor where there was fish underneath us as well. We had this happen at the zoo and the park, with walking over a bridge. So the first time we had to carry them through the tunnel. We decided to go back and make  encourage them to walk through on their own. At first they were hesistant, but then they realized it was not scary at all, and they were able to enjoy the tunnel.

My pictures are pretty grainy. You aren't allowed to use a flash, and my camera can't handle ISO's and the aquarium was pretty dark.

A Taste of Fall

A few weeks ago, we had our first taste of fall weather. It was such a huge relief from our HOT summer we had. We spent the next couple of days at the park flying kites and running around. Slurpees or ice cream cones always follow our park trips, so the boys were loving these cooler days. I'am so happy fall is upon us, perfect weather for pumpkin patch, parks, and zoo trips.

This was Dylan's first time on the big kid swings. He was hesitant at first, but couldn't get enough of it after his fear passed.

Happy Easter

Monday, April 25, 2011

I love Easter! Actually I think I love every holiday, but Easter is definitely a top contender. This year we just had a small cook out at my sister’s house. Of course, no Easter is complete without an Easter egg hunt and Cascarones. Dylan was not a fan of the cascarones, he wanted nothing to do with it. During the egg hunt, when the other kids were running like crazy, Dylan played it cool and walked. He tried opening some of the eggs to eat the candy, and even giving some of his finds to someone else. Diego on the other hand enjoyed every minutes of smashing and throwing cascarones at everyone.

I kind of waited until the very last minute to make their baskets, so I did not have a huge selection of goodies to choose from. I tried to only filled it with things they would use on a daily basis, instead of just disposable junk. They scored candy, kites, sidewalk chalk, a duck for Dylan, a stuffed dinosaur for Diego and Easter themed rubber ducks. I love the holiday themed rubber ducky’s. Every holiday since Diego was born I have bought him and Dylan one if I could find them.

My attempts of taking a picture of my boys together never seem to be successful.

Good thing the thunderstorms held off until after our Easter fun was done.

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter!
