GOOOOAAAAALLLLLLL!

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

This evening we took Diego to the soccer fields for Madison and Andrews soccer practice. I was pretty sure if Diego saw them running around the field he would be so into it, but I couldn’t believe how much he loved it. My baby boy is pretty talented, I guess I will have to enroll him in Soccer Tots after all. It was fun to watch him kick around the ball with us. He was one tired soccer superstar come bed time. I also just bought a new lens for my camera, and tonight was the perfect opportunity to try it out. I hope you guys like them.

Stop and Smell the Roses

Saturday, September 26, 2009

Sometimes I have to slow down, forget about the rules, and appreciate every passing minute with my boys. I don’t want to regret anything because I was to busy worrying about the “schedule” or the “routine”. I forget about what the experts say, what I read, what I know works. These are my moments.

Every once in a while, I don’t worry that Diego isn’t spic and span. Even with milk and cereal dribbling out of his mouth he still is adorable.

I let him conquer the big slide at the park, without help.

IMG_0249 Its okay to allow him to watch tv with Daddy, even though he now likes to pretend he is shooting at us.IMG_0616 I will allow him to play with “baby” toys, sit in the swing and bouncer. No matter how big he is for them, he still is my baby.

Sometimes both voluntarily and involuntarily, I let him stay up pass his bedtime, eat candy, drink a soda, play in the rain, kiss me goodnight for as long as he wants, go to bed without a shower, pick out what he wants to wear, throw tantrums, sleep in, eat crackers and juice in the morning so I can get him dressed, not brush his hair, wears his pajamas all day, let him take off his shoes in the grocery store, eat meals on the couch, not make everything a learning opportunity.

IMG_0376 I just let my guard down, let go of the strings a little and let him be a toddler.

Life as Diego Knows It- Part 1

Thursday, September 24, 2009

So I’m sure you guys remember this post about Diego’s new camera. This is the first segment of Diego’s pictures, pictures of the world from his point of view. So yeah, the picture quality of this kid friendly camera isn’t the greatest at all as you will see, but he still enjoys taking pictures with HIS camera.

Dinosaur World

IMG_0069 This last one is very bad quality, Diego was a little to close when he took it last night. This is definitely my favorite picture. This is right before bedtime and Daddy is feeding Dylan. Life through Diego’s eyes is a neat little world.

Happy Meals and Dinosaurs

This past weekend was my off weekend, so of course I had some activities planned for us. Friday night we also had our play date/mom gossip fest/dad man time. Unfortunately I do not have any pics due to a certain uncooperative, tantrum throwing toddler. It was a fun night, and I can’t wait for our Halloween Party playdate.

Saturday we met Aunt Amy and cousin Madison and cousin Andrew at Diego’s favorite spot, McDonalds. Diego enjoys any restaurant that has a playground, so we sat outside and let them run off the caffeine.

Sunday we made the two hour drive from our house to Glen Rose, Texas and visited Dinosaur World. Glen Rose is such a sweet little old town with a cute old school town square. I heard about Dinosaur World from this cool site, it was part of their 25 Free Things To Do With the Kids This Summer. Even though grumpy very inpatient daddy complained about the drive, we had so much fun. Dinosaurs are another obsession Diego has, so I wanted to take him so he can see the 150 life size dinosaurs. I will admit he was kind of scared of the dinosaurs, he stayed in his wagon most of the time, but he did enjoy himself, especially the fossil dig. It was really cool, take it from someone who loved Jurassic Park, and as lame as this sounds I even read the Jurassic Park book. ONLY because it was part of my high school Biology reading requirements. Dinosaur World is pretty much Jurassic Park minus REAL dinosaurs that are trying to kill you.

IMG_0788 Can you really blame Diego for being a little scared, it looks like the T-Rex is about to eat them. Those are some huge feet they have.

Kid Tested, Mommy Approved

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

This is my new best friend! Why? Well, Diego LOVES to use my camera and take pictures. He even uses the remote, my phone, anything and pretends its a camera and then makes a clicking sound as he pretends to take a picture. He's my little budding photographer. Of course, Im so SCARED he's going to drop MY camera and break it or delete all of my pictures. Since I bought my Canon, I rarely use my Kodak camera, so I was thinking about giving it to him and letting him go to town. Still I was worried because I knew he would just break it and I would end up buying another one. So one day I was reading a blog and came across the subject of this camera. The Fisher Price Kid Tough Camera. I was like this is perfect. It's a real digital camera, but for kids and tough enough to survive a toddler and very easy to use. Of course I did what I always do, I researched it and read the reviews, and then I just bought it. So far Diego loves it, the picture quality is not like any of my other cameras but it's good enough for a toddler. It's even waterproof, and it has a LCD screen. So stinkin' CUTE! Of course stubborn Diego isn't letting me teach him how to use it the correct way, but Im sure he will learn. I will be posting Diego's pics soon in my new segment: Life as Diego knows it. Or something like that, I haven't decided what I would call it yet.

Under Construction- Mommy at Work

Monday, September 14, 2009

I have decided it’s time for Diego to transition to his “BIG BOY’’ bed. This is easier said than done. We bought Diego a  Step 2 Fire Engine bed way back in January or February. The plan was to move Diego into his “BIG BOY” bed way before Dylan came along and eventually Dylan would take over the crib. I had read to make any changes either before the new baby came along, or wait a few months once the baby arrived so as not to completely traumatize your first born. Well that never happened, Diego’s bed was still in a box when my water broke. Heck we hadn’t even finished unpacking all of our boxes from our move. Well 6 months later, Daddy finally put the bed together, only after I threatened I was going to go buy Dylan a NEW crib and bedding. Being the cheapskate saver that he is, he just put the bed together, and it took a whopping 10 minutes. The bed requires no physical assertion, it snaps together, so why on earth it took me 6 months of nagging before he put it together is beyond me. After months of planning, I decided I did not want to go with Fire Truck theme, instead I just bought a Cars/Trucks bedding at Target. Who else is going to care that the bed is a Fire Truck besides me, nobody, not even Diego cares. So his room is still a work in progress, with the limited space on my hands, and his toys still in his room and Diego still actually sleeping in his crib, I have a long way to go. First thing to check off my list is getting him to sleep in his new bed and not the crib.

Here are couple of things I did find that I just love, hopefully once we get everything situated, or another words when I finish school and I have alot more time on my hands I can finish his room and a bunch of other things on my list.

I just loved this bedding when I saw it

It even has a little siren that lights upIMG_0641

I found these at Hobby Lobby and I had to buy them. So I guess I’m going for a vintage look, if that what it’s called

IMG_0676 IMG_0679

We even went to the Downtown Mini Mall on the Square, to look for vintage cars. Of course Jesus thought it was a bunch of junk and was ready to get out of there. The cars I did find were ridiculously expensive so I went this one that I found at Hobby Lobby. I need to get a few more.

IMG_0674IMG_0685IMG_0678

This sign I did buy at the Downtown Mini Mall. The guy who makes them has a lot of vintage/retro street signs/automotive signs. I’m planning to buy a few more and putting all the signs on one wall.

IMG_0668

The thumb tacks are only there so I could take the picture of it, eventually Daddy will get around to properly attaching it to the wall. I also bought this table at Target, I haven’t decided if it matches all that well, but against the Fire Truck nothing does. Since the crib and dresser are natural wood I think it will go for now, if not I can always paint it. I even bought a lamp shade and base that I found on clearance for $5 that I plan to paint and change the fabric on the shade to match the room. It will get done in time, so for now it will do.

IMG_0696 I guess I forgot to take the tag off before I took a picture of it. Oh well, eventually I will get to that too.
